BBC Line of Duty's Adrian Dunbar teases show's return - but admits one problem
Adrian Dunbar has hinted at a potential return for the acclaimed BBC drama Line of Duty, three years after its gripping finale. The show's loyal followers were left hanging when Martin Compston first disclosed that there were "no immediate plans" for a revival.
In May, fellow star Vicky McClure evaded questions about the show's future during an appearance on ITV's This Morning. However, recent rumours of a comeback gained traction as Martin, Vicky, and Adrian Dunbar were said to have met with series creator Jed Mercurio to talk over a possible seventh season, reports the Mirror.
Now, Adrian, has suggested that Line of Duty could make a comeback on the BBC, with only a script yet to materialise. Speaking on Times Radio on Monday (November 11), he said: "I hope so. Looks like it. All the signals and everything is kind of, you know, (positive) but as somebody said, until the script hits the desk you can't be 100 per cent sure."

The 66-year-old also revealed his hopes for the show's return. He said: "So we're all hoping that someone somewhere will make an announcement and say, yes, it's happening. And we can all take it from there. I can tell you one thing...the day they announce it, it's going to burn up the internet."
The actor, who played Superintendent Ted Hastings, also expressed his gratitude for the role. He said: "To end up creating what is an iconic character on British television and also within an iconic TV show would have been a huge ambition of mine. And so to do it is a very humbling and very satisfying experience. So that's how I'd describe it. It's been, it's something that kind of when you think about it keeps you warm. It's very, very nice."
This isn't the first time Adrian has sparked excitement among Line Of Duty fans about the show's return. In July, he told Good Morning Britain that all the cast and the show's fans were eager for a comeback, saying: "I think so, Vicky thinks so, Martin thinks so. Everybody thinks so. It'll be down to the BBC and Doctor Jed Mercurio I think, when and whether we do it.
"Hopefully somebody will make a decision at some point and everybody will go 'Oh they're off again!'"
