The BBC brought out its new tense thriller Nightsweeper on Sunday night but sparked instant complaints from viewers. The six-part series follows passengers onboard a train which is taken over by cyber terrorists on a night-time journey from Glasgow to London.

Passenger and police officer Joe quickly realises there's a serious problem when he discovers a suspicious device and the train begins rattling out of control. He has to try and stop the hijacking via satellite phone with cyber security expert Abby.

But many viewers were not impressed with one part of the show, slamming it as 'unrealistic'. Viewers took to social media to comment on the differences between real life on the railways in Britain and that portrayed on the new BBC series.

Ciaran wrote on X: "This will be driving folk up the wall with some of the railway inaccuracies. #Nightsleeper." Paul Towmy asked: "Who wrote #NightSleeper - u had the makings of something good but I feel you've never ACTUALLY ever BEEN a train in the UK. Nevermind - u tried."

"The most realistic part of #nightsleeper so far is that the Train is now delayed," BlueNoseBear commented, while Martyn Notman said: "The most unrealistic thing about #nightsleeper is that Britain could ever have a train that looks like that. They would have jammed 300 more seats in to make money."

Laura Jane added: "I'm already struggling with #Nightsleeper based on how far from reality the following things are: 1. The train is so fancy; 2. There's not a replacement bus service on."

The thriller stars Joe Cole, Alexandra Roach, David Threlfall and Sharon Small, among others.
