A man has been arrested after a 21-year-old festival-goer died while travelling to Radio 1’s Big Weekend on a shuttle bus.

The reveller was on a bus to the Burton Constable Hall in Hull, where the popular music event is being held, when he was taken ill on Saturday.

Paramedics and police were scrambled to the scene and rushed him to hospital, where he later died.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the incident, while officers do not believe at this stage the circumstances are suspicious.

In statement, Humberside Police said: “We are continuing our investigation into the circumstances of his death today but they are not believed to be suspicious.

“A 20-year-old man arrested in connection with the investigation remains in police custody.”
