BBC releases first look at The Split's spinoff ahead of show return
BBC has revealed the first look at The Split's new spinoff.
The two-part BBC One special will see Nicola Walker returning as Hannah Stern, alongside the rest of the Defoe family for a destination wedding set to bring dramatic secrets to the surface.
Newly released images from the BBC show how life has changed for the Defoe family two years on from Hannah and ex-husband Nathan Stern's (Stephen Mangan) marriage breaking up.

As the Defoes gather in Barcelona for a family wedding, Hannah faces the potential of finding love again while others go through break-ups and familial clashes you'd expect from The Split.
The BBC has confirmed that familiar faces from The Split — including Annabel Scholey (Nina), Fiona Button (Rose) and Deborah Findlay (Ruth) — will return for these two new episodes.

Other returning cast members are Ian McElhinney (Ronnie), Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (Glen), Elizabeth Roberts (Liv) and Alex Guersman (Gael). One newcomer joining the ensemble will be Toby Stephens (Percy Jackson and the Olympians) as smooth-talking lawyer Archie Moore.
Series creator Abi Morgan has previously said of The Split's return: "In a world of brutal break-ups and tantalising make-ups, the Defoe family are invited to a destination wedding of their own, promising all that audiences have grown to love about The Split.
"Problematic prenups, scandalous wedding crashers, and low-flying marriage proposals, as rom-com meets gone wrong, in a chaotic and riotous weekend that guarantees to crack open the heart, before the last of the guests have gone home."
The team behind The Split had previously been working on a separate spinoff — to be titled The Split Up and featuring a new family called the Kishans — but it was reported in September the BBC had halted development for "editorial reasons".
The original incarnation of The Split aired between 2018 and 2022, during which time it earned multiple National Television Award nominations.
The Split: Barcelona will air on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer.
