The BBC has responded after viewers expressed confusion over AJ Odudu's recent appearance on Michael McIntyre's Big Show.

TV presenter Odudu was involved in the show's standout 'Send to All' segment, where McIntyre takes a celebrity's phone and sends all their contacts a silly message to see what replies they get.

Before Odudu handed her phone over, she was asked what kind of phone she had. She explained that she used to use an iPhone, but because she dropped it all the time, she changed to a Google Pixel, which she claimed was sturdier.

Some viewers on social media felt like this segment broke BBC rules that ban promoting specific products, and noted that Odudu partnered with Google Pixel on an ad campaign in 2022.

In an official statement, a BBC spokesperson said (via Metro): "Ahead of broadcast of the programme, it was confirmed to the BBC that AJ Odudu was no longer under contract to promote any smartphone-related organisations."

Last year, Odudu fronted the revival of Big Brother alongside Will Best. Not only is she expected to return to host a second civilian series on ITV, but also a brand new incarnation of Celebrity Big Brother.

The line-up of famous faces hasn't been confirmed yet, and likely won't be until around launch, but there are plenty of rumours already.

Meanwhile, Odudu's makeover show The Big Interiors Battle was axed by Channel 4 after one series, just a few months after it also cancelled hairdressing series The Big Blow Out.

Michael McIntyre's Big Show airs on Saturday nights on BBC One.
