Strictly Come Dancing 2024 has taken a step into awkwardness after a pair of professionals fell out. Nancy Xu and Carlos Gu are reportedly no longer speaking, causing tension among the show's dance troupe.

The former close friends have stopped following each other on social media and are no longer speaking to one another, reports The Sun. This development comes after a series of awkward incidents on the BBC1 show, particularly in the Clauditorium, where co-host Claudia Winkleman conducts interviews.

Other Strictly professionals, including ex-partners Kai Widdrington and Nadiya Bychkova, as well as Katya Jones and her partner Wynne Evans, have also been avoiding each other in the Clauditorium.

Nancy, 33, and Carlos, 31, who both have Chinese roots, were once incredibly close, with Carlos referring to Nancy as his "favourite sister" and Nancy calling him "my baby brother". However, their friendship has soured, reportedly due to Carlos's disappointment at not being paired with a celebrity partner this year, while Nancy has been focused on her partnership with Shayne Ward, 40.

A source told The Sun: "The feud between Nancy and Carlos is really sad and has left everyone really shocked. They've been close since childhood, but have fallen out and unfollowed each other on socials.

"The atmosphere on set is said to be awkward and tense when both are around, and to many it was a relief when Carlos didn't attend the show weeks ago. Carlos is said to be subdued after the falling-out and is also struggling with not getting a celebrity partner."

"His friends are worried about him as he is so far away from his family. He has wiped all pictures of her from his profile and unfollowing each other on Instagram is the ultimate finality in their friendship."

The Sun on Sunday approached the BBC for comment. Tensions have reportedly been running high on Strictly, with claims surfacing that pros Kai, 29, and Nadiya, 35, avoided standing next to one another during a live show after their split in summer. An insider revealed: "They may have big smiles when the cameras are running, but it's very tense between them.
