BBC Strictly Come Dancing Chris McCausland addresses 'Samba-thon' after 'surviving' show
Chris McCausland has shared his reaction to earning just one point in the 'Samba-thon' during Saturday’s episode of Strictly Come Dancing. The Scouse comedian and his partner, Dianne Buswell, delivered a fiery paso doble that moved Dianne’s parents to tears.
Before the performance, Dianne revealed her parents hadn’t seen her dance live since she joined the show seven years ago. The pair’s routine, set to El Gato Montes by Manuel Panella, earned them a score of 33. Judge Oti Mabuse praised their effort, saying she “loved the commitment” in the dance.
Saturday also featured the return of the dance-a-thon, where all the couples performed the samba simultaneously under the judges’ watchful eyes. Chris finished last in the dance-a-thon, securing just one point. However, this result did not affect his progress in the competition, as he advanced to the quarter-finals.

After the show, Dianne shared a heartfelt message with fans on Instagram. She wrote: “THANK YOU all so much for the votes. We never take any of this for granted and are still taken away by your support every week.
“QUARTER FINALS seems like a dream saying that. Last week was tough in terms of learning the dance but in true Chris style he wanted to show that it’s not impossible. And it was BRILLIANT.
“Again thank you for allowing us to dance again for you all. Partner let’s get ready for musicals week. I’m going to annoy you with my singing all week.”
Chris responded to Dianne’s post, addressing the dance-a-thon. He said: “I was really proud of our dance on Saturday, and as for the Samba-thon..[zipper-mouth emoji].”
He added: “Well thank you so much for all of your votes. You really did help us survive double Latin! See you tomorrow partner, I’ll be bringing earplugs.”
