BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans fear for Chris McCausland after exit comment

BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans have expressed their concern for Chris McCausland after noticing a worrying sign.

Chris and his dance partner kicked off the show with a Samba, prompting many fans to label it the "death slot".

One fan posted on X: "They are putting Chris and Dianne first, hoping they will be in the dance off.! ! Please vote for them. They are national treasures #Strictly."

Another fan shared similar concerns: "Very concerned that dancing a samba and being first on means 'bottom two' for Chris this week. DO NOT MAKE THIS A REALITY. #scd #strictly."

However, some fans were more optimistic, with one commenting, "Chris was fabulous. It was definitely not his best dance, but I'm not worried about him going first. He was incredible," reports the Mirror.

Chris himself acknowledged the "curse" of performing first, telling Claudia Winkleman: "We have lost four people so far this series.

"Two of them on Sambas, and we have had four dance-offs and three of them are people who went on first, so the maths is against us this week."

According to bookmakers, Gorka Marquez and Punam Krishnan are currently at risk of elimination this weekend.

Betway's Chad Yeomans revealed: "This Halloween-themed weekend, Dr. Punam Krishan could be in for a real fright as she is the 2/1 favourite to waltz off the show for good.

"The Glasgow-born GP is set to perform a spine-chilling Tango to 'Sweet Dreams' by Eurythmics, but she'll need a good week in rehearsals to avoid a nightmare on the dance floor."

He added: "Ex-Olympian Sam Quek is also creeping into the danger zone, as she is the 3/1 second favourite to exit this Sunday. Meanwhile, Pete Wicks and Shayne Ward are both on thin ice and find themselves next in the betting to be taking their final bow on the show."

Last weekend, Paul Merson exited the show after a dance-off against JB Gill.

When asked about his time on the show, Paul shared: "It's been really good. For anybody I talk to, I would say you've got to go on this show. It's amazing - everybody. There's a Tottenham fan over there called Lincoln, and he's nice!"

Heaping praise on his dance partner, Karen Hauer, he went on to say: "It's been amazing, honestly, amazing. I loved every minute of it, I've had a great teacher. She's been amazing, absolutely amazing, and I couldn't wish for a better coach.

"I've loved every minute of it. I can dance now. I won because I can dance. I couldn't dance before, but I can half dance now. It's a bonus, absolute bonus."

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Sunday at 7.20pm on BBC One.
