Strictly Come Dancing fans were emotional as Chris McCausland shared his show exit worry. The Scouse comic has emerged as the early favourite to win the Glitterball with his incredible performances alongside Dianne Buswell.

However, the 47-year-old suffered a setback this week when he finished joint bottom of the leaderboard. Chris admitted he was concerned he could be the next celebrity to leave the show in last night's episode.

He said: "We've lost four people so far this series, two of them on Sambas. And we've had four dance offs and three of them have had people who've gone on first so the maths is against us this week."

However, Chris was incredibly relieved to discover he had survived to progress to week seven of the BBC contest. Host Claudia Winkleman was taken aback as she spotted how much the announcement meant to Chris.

The host said: "Chris and Dianne your reaction to Tess saying your name was quite something." Chris admitted he was worried his time was up as the show's first ever blind contestant said: "It wasn't my finest moment.

"I had a little bit of a blank before we went on. I overcompensated with my shoulders and my bouncing. I hoped nobody would notice, but they all noticed. Literally we are here now because people voted at home and I'm just so grateful. Thank you to everyone for voting."

Viewers following the show on social media platform X were thrilled the Scouser remains in the competition. Charles said: "Watching how much it meant to Chris and Dianne to get through is quite emotional. What a wonderful pairing they are"

However, other fans were baffled as they didn't address who Chris would be performing as for next episodes Icon's week. It was revealed that Sam Quek would be paying homage to Taylor Swift and Wynne Evans would be sharing his tribute to Shirley Bassey.

Fans were confused why Claudia didn't reveal who Chris would be paying homage to next Saturday. Carole added: "Claudia didn't tell us who Chris's icon would be. She told us everyone else's!" Cathy added: "I noticed that too."
