Strictly Come Dancing fans were momentarily distracted from the dazzling dance floor action during the launch show, as they caught sight of a familiar face in the audience. The BBC One dance extravaganza made its grand return on Saturday night (September 14), with 15 celebrities stepping out for their ballroom introductions in the pre-recorded episode that marked Strictly's comeback after a nine-month hiatus and unveiled the pairings vying for this year's Glitterball trophy.

Among the stars making their debut was Toyah Wilcox, the 80s music legend, who was revealed to be teaming up with crowd-pleaser Neil Jones. Neil is back with a celebrity partner for the first time since the 2021 series. Toyah expressed her delight at being paired with Neil to Claudia Winkleman, exclaiming: "I met Neil and I was in heaven. All of you are beautiful boys but not as beautiful as Neil!"

However, it wasn't just Toyah and Neil's pairing that had viewers talking. Many were quick to spot Toyah's husband, Robert Fripp, in the audience.

Fripp isn't just any supportive spouse he's renowned as the guitarist, founder, and enduring member of the progressive rock band King Crimson, with notable collaborations with David Bowie and Brian Eno under his belt.

Twitter users couldn't contain their surprise at seeing Fripp on the show. @alps2018 tweeted: "Honestly never thought I'd see Robert Fripp on #Strictly.", reports the Manchester Evening News.

@StarrOutlook shared similar sentiments: "Robert Fripp on #strictly never thought I'd see the day."

Meanwhile, @heavenstobetsie celebrated Fripp's appearance, saying: "Robert Fripp, #Strictly stan. We love to see it."

Toyah Willcox, the 66 year old singer and actress, recently opened up about her husband Robert Fripp's reaction to her joining Strictly Come Dancing. She shared with Claudia on the show: "My gorgeous husband burst into tears when I told him. He was so happy for me and every day since I've told him he's said, 'I'm so proud of you'. Every day! ".

In a candid chat with the Mirror about their enduring marriage and experience touring together, Toyah revealed the secret to their long-lasting relationship: "It's exactly the same as being married for 38 years, it's good."

The couple, who hail from different musical backgrounds, also discussed their professional dynamic. Toyah explained: "We both come from very different genres," and Robert chimed in with his own thoughts: "But we complement each other well, I have a wonderful time being out working with my wife, may I say, even having greater fun than when we were at home together."
