Fans of Strictly Come Dancing were left crying during the end credits of tonight's episode after the show paid a touching tribute to two former stars who passed away this year.

As the end credits rolled, images of Hairy Biker Dave Myers and professional dancer Robin Windsor appeared on the screen, leaving viewers emotional.

TV chef Dave, known for his on-screen partnership with Si King, passed away in February at the age of 66 after suffering from cancer. Dave took part in Strictly in 2013 and was partnered with professional dancer Karen Hauer.

Robin, who appeared on the BBC show between 2010 and 2013, died at the age of 44. During his time on the show, he was paired with numerous celebrities including model Patsy Kensit, actresses Anita Dobson and Lisa Riley, and Dragons’ Den star Deborah Meaden.

Taking to social media after the BBC show aired the tribute to the two former stars, viewers praised the broadcaster for the "nice touch", with some saying it had left them tearful.

"This had me in tears," one viewer wrote. "Totally forgot that Dave Myers & Robin Windsor both passed away this year." Another said: "Nice touch there at the end of #Strictly. Remembering Dave Myers and Robin Windsor."

A third added: "Oh heck the Dave Myers and Robin Windsor tributes at the end took my breath away a bit." A fourth said: "Well that ending of the episode had me bursting into tears."

Another wrote: "Amy’s return was emotional but the dedication to Dave Myers & Robin Windsor finished me."

The tearful ending came after an emotional show which saw the return of professional dancer Amy Dowden after her cancer diagnosis meant she could not compete last year. Marking her return to dancing, Amy performed a routine with her fellow pro dancers.

Dressed in pink and circled by the other dancers in black and grey, the Welsh dancer took centre stage in a routine performed to a medley of Dua Lipa’s Training Season and Jungle’s Keep Moving.

It was revealed on Saturday’s 2024 launch show, that Amy was partnered with JLS star JB Gill as co- host Claudia Winkleman told her she was “so happy” to see her there following tests showing she had “no sign of the disease”. Amy said: “I’m delighted, it just feels like my first year all over again. I just want JB to have the best time and fall in love with dancing.”

Other celebrities taking part in the show this year include comedian Chris McCausland, Olympic medalist and TV presenter Sam Quek, former footballer Paul Merson, TV presenter Nick Knowles and Gladiator Montell Douglas. Olympic swimmer Tom Dean, Eastenders actor Jamie Borthwick, Miranda actress Sarah Hadland and singer and actor Shayne Ward are also taking part in this year's series.

The final contestants completing the line up are TV personality and podcast host Pete Wicks, model and Love Island star Tasha Ghouri, BBC Morning Live's Dr Punam Krishan, singer Toyah Willcox and opera singer Wynne Evans.

Vito Coppola, Gorka Marquez, Johannes Radebe, Karen Hauer and Aljaz Skorjaned are among the professional dancers taking part.
