Strictly Come Dancing star Sarah Hadland's mum made an emotional confession about what the actress is like 'as a mummy' as they supported her in Blackpool. Sarah's mum and dad both travelled to the seaside town to support their daughter.

They appeared in a VT ahead of her performance with Vito Coppola in the famous Tower Ballroom. Sarah revealed how important it was to have time with her family while competing in the stressful competition as they walked along the beachfront together.

Sarah's mum then spoke about her relationship with her daughter, who the Miranda actress rarely discusses. She said: "Sarah as a mummy is, I think, unbelievable. And she makes me incredibly proud."

She then revealed her daughter had made her a sweet present to give her good luck in the final stages of the competition.

"Her little one has made this paddle," she said. "If there was a number to be on there I think it would be 100." Sarah previously spoke about her daughter, whose name and age she keeps private, on the BBC show as she dedicated a special dance to Billie Eilish's Birds Of A Feather to her.

A tearful Sarah said: "It's about my family, and it's about me and my little one. This song is special to us because we sing it together and we also have a little picture of us both as birds that we made together. It will be really lovely to show how I feel in the dance."

Sarah received mixed reception from the Strictly judges for her latest performance in the Tower Ballroom with partner Vito Coppola - a couple's choice routine to Padam Padam by Kylie Minogue. Anton Du Beke told her: "You didnt go wrong. You had perfect timing, perfect co-ordination. It takes huge confidence, there was no hint of a look out the corner of the eye to make sure you were matching." He branded the dance the "best thing you have done by miles".

Craig Revel Horwood took a different tone though. He told Sarah: "It's a tough one. A lot of the choreography is economical...one still has to live and stand out through it so you don't blend in with the chorus.

"It was a little too perfect." The comment drew a huge round of boos from the audience, before Craig added: "I know that sounds weird but it just lacked an attitude in those still moments that brought you out of the crowd...however, spec-tac-ular."
