BBC Strictly Come Dancing star makes surprise 'getting married' announcement

Strictly Come Dancing sensation Montell Douglas had a laugh suggesting she's set to wed her professional dance partner as they geared up for their debut performance in the contest.

The much-anticipated Strictly season has kicked off with a bang in 2024 following an electrifying launch show. In week one, the celebrities and their pro partners are all set to hit the dance floor for the first time, aiming to secure a spot on the leaderboard after showcasing their routine.

While the judges will be dishing out their critiques and the stars will receive scores, there won't be any eliminations in the opening week. The real pressure mounts in week two when the competition intensifies, and one celebrity will have to hang up their dancing shoes for good.

Montell, also known as Gladiator Fire, is teamed up with Johannes Radebe. This dynamic pair danced the Foxtrot to 'Is You Is or Is You Ain't My Baby' by Dinah Washington, embarking on their quest to clinch the title of the show.

However, before taking to the dancefloor, host Claudia Winkleman couldn't help but comment on the duo's stunning appearance, dubbing them "Mojo", reports the Mirror.

Montell turned heads in an elegant lace and sheer gown while Johannes cut a fine figure in a crisp white shirt, cream waistcoat, and matching tie, complemented by pin-striped trousers.

"Well, we are getting married," quipped Montell, eliciting chuckles from the rest of the Strictly crew, with Claudia confirming: "You're all invited."

Fans will get their chance to weigh in when voting lines open in week two on the upcoming Saturday (September 28), with the series' first departure scheduled for the following night (Sunday, September 29).

Tonight's action will commence at 7pm on BBC One, however, there won't be a results show this weekend.

Currently leading the betting odds are X Factor victor Shayne Ward and JLS celebrity JB Gill although former professional dancer Erin Boag has cautioned that Miranda star Sarah Hadland is also a strong contender.
