Strictly Come Dancing made its return, but it wasn't long before the first grievance was aired about the new 2024 series.

On Saturday night (September 21), the much-anticipated first live performance followed hot on the heels of last week's launch episode, where the pairing of celebrities and professional dancers was revealed.

The familiar faces of hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman welcomed audiences to a fresh season with 15 ambitious couples vying to dazzle on the dance floor and win the coveted Glitterball trophy.

Before delving into the seasons inaugural live competition, viewers were introduced to the contenders via a pre-recorded sequence that captured their dramatic arrivals at Elstree Studios.

The opening scene involved vignettes such as JB Gill departing from a stage show, Pete Wicks leaving behind his podcasting realm, and Shayne Ward getting ready with a spray tan, reports the Mirror.

Despite the attempt at a grand kick off, the response from Strictly fans was less than enthusiastic. Disgruntled voices took to social media, with one viewer posting on X, "#Strictly I wish they would stop filling the time with we don't need to see all this. Stop wasting time.."
