Strictly professional Carlos Gu has broken his silence after sparking rumours of a rift between him and co-star Nancy Xu. The pair recently unfollwed each other on Instagram.

Tension seemed to rise further when Carlos apparently left Nancy untagged in an Instagram post celebrating their Beyonce-inspired performance during the show's Icons Week. Carlos has since spoken to the Mail, acknowledging that there has been a fallout between him and Nancy.

But he assured fans that the pair would mend their friendship in time. "We're fine," he remarked. "We've been friends since childhood, and friends argue, we're too close and are like brother and sister to completely fall out."

While Nancy has remained silent on the matter, Carlos alluded to the situation in a reflective Instagram post about the challenging past weeks on Strictly. Posing as Claudia Winkleman for the show's Halloween edition, he mused: "It has been a hectic [few] weeks for me! ! But HEY let's give a moment for this! I love you @claudiawinkle."

Claudia responed: "Love you very much and deeply. Thank you for being one of the special souls that I can call friend and baby brother. [kiss emojis] Having the best day, as I know. WE WILL MAKE IT AS IT SHOULD." Carlos replied with gratitude, commenting: "Thank you my favourite sister."

It comes as it was claimed professional dancers Kai and Nadiya were keeping their distance from each other behind the scenes. The pair split before the start of this year's series of the BBC dance competition after finding love on the show.

A source told the Sun that they didn't want to be near each other on the show. They said: "They refuse to be near each other at all on set- but there's not much room up there with all the professionals. They just have to do their best to avoid each other every weekend."
