Strictly Come Dancing's first live show kicked off on Saturday as Craig Revel-Horwood hinted at a potential Strictly curse moments into the programme. Sam Quek and her dance partner Nikita Kuzmin wowed the audience with an exquisite foxtrot to The Supremes' classic "Where Did Our Love Go".

However, it was Judge Craig Revel-Horwood's comments that stirred speculation of more than just dance floor chemistry. In his critique, Revel-Horwood told Quek: "You lost a bit of balance, as you're fully aware, darling. It's true

"You're not completely using your feet as well as you could. I know it's week one though, my darling that's what made it at times a little lumpy."

He then added: "But I have to say, you came out here... there was chemistry between you. I can see that happening! And there's much to look forward to, I think, in this couple."

Sam, who won a gold medal for Great Britain’s Hockey team at the Rio De Janeiro Olympics in 2016, is happily married to husband Tom Mairs. Tom runs a student property company in Liverpool and appeared on Channel 4 show Secret Millionaire.

They share two young children. Sam revealed her husband wasn't able to watch her dance her first dance from the audience. She said: "My mum and Dad are here. Tom's normally here but he's at home."

She sent 'big love' to him and her children as they were watching along at home.

The first episode saw all 15 celebrities take to the dance floor with their new dance partners. No-one will be eliminated this week, and the first celebrity will be sent home next week.
