Gorka Marquez has received a wave of support after confirming he will return to Strictly Come Dancing.

The BBC finally put an end to the swirling rumours today, revealing the line-up of dancers set to dazzle audiences come September. In a surprising twist, Giovanni Pernice, 33, is notably absent from the upcoming series amid recent allegations of bullying, which he has refuted.

Spanish sensation Gorka, also 33, shared his delight on Instagram with a dapper photo of himself in a black suit, captioned: "Excited to be back for my 9th Series of @bbcstrictly and specially to celebrate 20 years of the best Show on TV. Keep Dancing.."

Fellow Strictly professional Amy Dowden, who is making a comeback after her courageous fight with breast cancer, chimed in with a supportive "Yes G x."

Fans also expressed their joy, with comments like "Yesss so glad you're back xx" and "Wouldn't be the same without you", reports the Mirror.

Yet, amidst the celebratory messages, one fan couldn't help but mention Giovanni's notable absence, saying: "Always excited for it, but it won't be the same without Gio. Massive, massive loss for the show."

Giovanni Pernice, the long-standing Strictly Come Dancing professional, has faced a rocky road recently with his position on the show appearing to hang in the balance. This follows Amanda Abbington's public criticism of Giovanni, calling him "nasty" and citing allegations of "threatening and abusive" behaviour during their training sessionsa claim which Giovanni refutes.

The BBC is reportedly conducting an internal probe after complaints surfaced from several of Giovanni's former dance partners, including Laura Whitmore.

Earlier this year, Giovanni addressed Amanda's departure publicly for the first time in a conversation with The Mirror. On our exclusive Invite Only podcast, Giovanni confessed: "I am a perfectionist, 100%, but it comes from a perspective of caring."

The Italian dancer has been a pivotal figure on Strictly, even clinching victory in series 19 with Rose Ayling-Ellis.

He achieved runner-up status in his debut series with Georgia May Foote from Coronation Street and also secured second place in series 15 and 16 with Debbie McGee and Faye Tozer, respectively. However, series 20 proved less fruitful, as he and Richie Anderson were placed 14th.

The line-up for the upcoming September season of Strictly Come Dancing has been officially announced, with dancers Gorka and Amy making a return.

They will be joined by an impressive roster including Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Graziano Di Prima, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Luba Mushtuk, Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas and Vito Coppola.
