JB Gill has said Saturday's semi-final 'was a blur' as he admitted his 'worry' ahead of the final. The JLS star, 38, has now earned his spot in Saturday's grand finale next weekend after being saved by the public.

During the semi-final of the BBC One dance contest on Saturday night (December 7), the five remaining couples each performed two dances each in a bid to impress both the judges and viewers at home.

JB Gill scored 39 points out of a possible 40 after performing a paso doble to Requiem For A Tower by Clint Mansell, which was praised by judges as an "absolutely amazing" performance.

The singer then received his first perfect score of the series, with 10s from all four judges, for his and Lauren's salsa to Red Alert by Basement Jaxx.

On Sunday, it was announced that Pete Wicks and his professional dance partner Jowita Przystał would face the dreaded dance-off for the first time against Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec.

Following their dances, judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke all chose to save Tasha and Aljaz, as Head Judge Shirley Ballas said she also would have decided to save Tasha and Aljaz if the decision lied in her hands.

This means that Tasha and Aljaz, Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola, JB Gill and Lauren Oakley and Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell have all made it to this year's final.

Reflecting on the result, JB Gill took to his Instagram to share pictures from his performances, as he wrote to his 220,000 followers: "I’M IN THE FINAL. One night, two dances, FOUR 10’s for a Salsa, five semi-finalists, seven days left to go.

"I CANNOT believe I’m here, last night is still a blur to me but a beautiful blur I will remember for a very long time! It was such a pleasure to dance on my birthday, kicking off my semi-final with a commanding Paso Doble which was hands down the best I’ve danced it all week.

"Thanks to @jasongilkison there were moments in the training room @studio74ltd where we knew that if we got the energy right, the dance would be EPIC and @laurenmayoakley and I DID THAT! We also had a salsa to tackle - another chance to work with the wonderful @jennytaps1 & @sean.moon. The choreo fit SO well from day one and it was all about living and loving and letting the vibes flow."

JB then admitted: "I was worried at the start of the week whether I would be able to pull off two all-encompassing dances, full of energy but in total contrast to each other and now here I am, getting my first 40 of the series and winning a place in the @bbcstrictly final! Now we compete for a chance to lift the glitterball trophy!

"Thank you to EVERYONE who’s supported me on this journey. I couldn’t have done it without you! And now it’s time for one last dance. One shot to make it count…and I CANNOT WAIT."
