Strictly Come Dancing's Nick Knowles has issued a health update after his show exit. The DIY SOS presenter was the latest celebrity to be voted off on this season's edition of the BBC contest.

The 62-year-old's time on the show was plagued with bad luck. He had to dance through an injury on week two after he hurt his arm while changing a car tyre. He suffered a further setback on week three when a knee injury forced him to sit out of an episode.

However, his journey came to an end on Sunday when judges voted for him to depart the show after he competed against Shayne Ward in the dance off. Nick has shared a clip from hospital today as he revealed he has received treatment for his injuries.

He told his followers: "Good morning, it's really early on Thursday and I'm heading into hospital to have the first of my two operations. They're going to reattach my bicep, which was the first thing I managed to damage during my time on Strictly.

He added: "Although I didn't do it on Strictly, I did it when I changed a wheel on my car. Really unlucky accident." Nick shared a further update to reveal the first operation was a success.

He added: "All went well by all accounts so I have a reattached bicep now. Bit of physio for the next 3 months and all shall be right as rain and back to 100% I think so that's one down. And one to go on the knee."

Nick was partnered with Luba Mushtuk on the latest season of Strictly. The presenter issued a tribute to professional partner after his exit at the weekend.

He said: "You are the most talented, kind, big hearted person. You worked so hard to give me the best opportunity to compete and made me fall in love with dancing.

"You were considerate and empathetic with my fiancee @katie.dadzie and we both have a new friend we want to continue spending time with.

"Your creativity and hard work is awesome and I couldn’t have gone on this adventure with a better partner. I’m sorry I couldn’t take you further into the competition because people should get to see the lovely dances you prepared in advance.

"My admiration for the professional dancers in Strictly has gone up 1,000% - the athleticism, work ethic, patience and kindness is extraordinary. And for me you will always be the Queen of the dance. Thank you."
