Yahoo News BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Pete Wicks declares love after sweet tribute - but it's not to Maura Higgins
Pete Wicks has declared his love following a sweet tribute referencing his Strictly Come Dancing journey as he sets tongues wagging with rumoured love interest Maura Higgins.
The reality TV star and podcast host and his professional dance partner Jowita Przystal said a sad goodbye to the hit dance show over the weekend as they became the eleventh couple to leave the competition.
It meant that reality star and podcast host Pete and professional dancer Jowita just missed out on a place in the final, which takes place this Saturday (December 14) after he was voted off during the results show after the semi-final of the BBC One dance contest last Sunday night (December 8).
Days on from his semi-final upset and his close friend and fellow TV star Vicky Pattison has spoken out in support of his journey on the show.
Sharing pictures of him in action on the dance floor, the former I'm A Celebrity winner said: "You did us proud... I haven't had a moment to congratulate @p_wicks01 and @jowitaprzystal on everything they achieved at the weekend and throughout their entire time on @bbcstrictly! So here goes..
"Pete you proved yourself hardworking, determined, resilient and humble... and the nation absolutely fell in love with you! All just what you deserved mate!! I feel weirdly vindicated as I've been saying how brilliant you are for years and now everyone is on the same train I'm like 'SEE I TOLD YOU!!!' So thankyou, because there is absolutely nothing more I love in life than being right.
"@jowitaprzystal I'm so pleased you were Pete's partner- as beautiful on the inside as out! And such a patient, talented and impressive woman!!! You've made a friend for life with Pete."
Vicky added: "You embodied precisely what Strictly is about- and as a fan of the show I adored watching your journey and progression. But as your friend, I just loved seeing you open up, be vulnerable and put your trust in someone.
"You've gained so much from this experience.. and I absolutely cannot wait to see what you do next! Love you." Pete was then quick to respond, simply with: "I love you."
Meanwhile, it comes after Maura was quick to ask about Pete following her I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here exit, it's been revealed. The pair of reality stars have never confirmed they're dating despite having been spotted together on numerous occasions.
While Maura, who made the final of Love Island back in 2019, was taking part in the ITV reality show, she became comfortable enough with her campmates to talk about her love life. She later said she was "proud" of Pete's journey on Strictly Come Dancing and appeared to confirm a romance with him on ITV’s This Morning, when she joked that she would let presenter Alison Hammond be a bridesmaid at their wedding.
Maura said after her jungle exit: "You do forget about the cameras, and I do like to keep things private, but let’s be real, I said it. I can’t remember saying it, but I said the words, ‘I miss him’. I do miss him, like I missed all my friends and family. Honestly, he’s been so supportive, honestly. I didn’t know if he was still in Strictly and I’m so proud of him, he’s proud of me, and I can’t wait to see him when I get back."
