BBC Strictly Come Dancing's 'sad' Shayne Ward reveals bittersweet reason for pulling funny faces with Nancy after dance
'Sad' Shayne Ward has revealed the bittersweet reason why he and dancing partner Nancy Xu were pulling funny faces after they finished dancing, before they were voted off the show on Sunday night.
On Strictly Come Dancing's companion show It Takes Two on Monday night, Shayne and Nancy spoke about their exit from the BBC dancing competition. They spoke about the bond they'd built during the show and why they were baring their teeth at the end of their final dance.
Shayne said: Weirdly enough, I felt that this was it. One thing Nancy said to me is to 'never give up', which I didn't and we knew we were going to give it our all. But sometimes, you trust your gut and I kind of knew, felt it, when you can hear your heartbeat going, that my name was going to be called out. It's alright, sad ending, though."

"I was gutted," added Nancy.
Shayne said he developed a great bond with Nancy during the competition. He said the pair had an amusing signal to staff to ask for water. Shayne said: "We was always giggling and I think that really helped the connection. You might have noticed at the end, if you see us looking like this [Shayne bore his teeth] that's because we're thirsty."
