Wynne Evans broke into floods of tears while bidding farewell to Strictly Come Dancing’s Jamie Borthwick and Katya Jones.

Go Compare opera singer Wynne left the show on Sunday, November 17 after performing a salsa at Blackpool Tower Ballroom with dance partner Katya. During his nine weeks on the show, he formed a special bond with fellow contestant Jamie, known for acting in EastEnders.

The Welshman appeared on Strictly’s companion show It Takes Two on Monday, November 18, where he was joined by presenter Fleur East and Katya. During their chat, Jamie came onto the show as a surprise guest to bid Wynne farewell.

Jamie said: “I just want to say that it’s been the best nine weeks, and who’d have thought that this man and me would become best mates? It’s the duo no one knew they needed. It’s just been absolutely brilliant. It’s not going to be the same – but I’ve got a friend for life. He’s amazing this man, and so is she [Katya].”

Katya added: “This is what Strictly is about, though. No one’s going to remember the scores or the comments we got. It’s the friendships that are being created in the show and genuine relationships. I’m so glad that you had each other.”

At that moment, Wynne broke out in tears and was handed a box of tissues by Fleur while Jamie squeezed his shoulder. After cleaning himself and watching a clip of his best bits on the show, Wynne opened up on what he’d learned during his time while taking part in the competition.

Wynne said: “The time in the rehearsal room was the most precious time and she [Katya] taught me to start believing in myself and the people who know me, know me, and the people who don’t really know me don’t matter that much. It’s been a wonderful experience for that and she is the most amazing person.”
