BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Stacey Dooley is embarking on a fresh endeavour. And you won't have to wait too long to see it.

The star, who clinched the Strictly title, will be presenting an upcoming BBC documentary named Stacey Dooley: Shoplifting. The programme is scheduled to be broadcast on BBC Three and iPlayer come 2025.

In this documentary, viewers will see Stacey delve into the UK's burgeoning shoplifting crisis, which inflicts a hefty financial toll on British businesses, amounting to more than £1.8 billion annually.

Dooley will investigate the motivations behind theft and engage with those on the frontline working to "deter and catch the thieves", as outlined in the film's brief. She'll witness firsthand "the extreme measures some businesses are having to take to avoid losing hundreds and thousands of pounds of stock".

Further detailing the film, it's noted that Stacey will interact with retail employees, observing the profound effect rampant shoplifting has on their daily lives, including encounters with staff who have faced violence and abuse from shoplifters while on duty.

Moreover, it has been revealed that Stacey has another film and two additional series in the works, although further details on these ventures remain under wraps for now.

The news breaks on the same day that Stacey - a seasoned BBC documentarian with over 70 films exploring diverse subjects - is set to be honoured with the Grierson Trustee Award for her exceptional contribution to documentary filmmaking.

"I'm incredibly honoured to receive the Grierson Trustee Award," expressed Stacey. "With a significant rise in shoplifting, it feels more important than ever to spend proper time with the people and complexities involved."

"This recognition fuels my commitment to keep telling these stories, and I'm thankful for all the support and those who have backed me from the start that allows me to keep pushing forward."
