BBC Strictly star 'honoured' as they prepare to make history on Christmas Special

The line-up for this year's Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special is shaping up, with the announcement that RuPaul's Drag Race UK finalist Tayce will be strutting her stuff on the dance floor.

The festive edition of the show will feature six celebrities competing in a one-off episode on Christmas Day, aiming to wow the judges with their moves.

Tayce, the 30 year old Welsh drag queen known as the 'Naomi Campbell of Drag', is set to dazzle audiences alongside professional dancer Kai Widdrington. Notably, Kai did not have a celebrity partner in the main 2024 series of Strictly.

On joining the Christmas special, Tayce expressed excitement: "I cannot wait to sleigh on the Strictly Ballroom floor. My partner and I are going to dance for our lives! ".

Tayce also highlighted the significance of the occasion, adding: "In all seriousness, it's an incredible honour to be the first Drag artist to be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing. I hope I do all of my Drag Race and Welsh fans proud! Sign me up for all the glitz, glam and discoballs."

Meanwhile, last year's Strictly winner Jamie Borthwick is currently competing in the main series with his professional dance partner Michelle Tsiakkas.

The 30 year old EastEnders actor had previously impressed with a Quickstep routine alongside Nancy Xu during last Christmas' show, scoring a perfect 40 points.

Jamie is now continuing his journey on the dance floor, eyeing the coveted Glitterball Trophy. Opening up about the infamous "curse" associated with the show, he talked about his relationship with dance partner Michelle.

Even though their on-stage chemistry is palpable to fans, he assures there's no chance of them succumbing to the dreaded "curse".

The "Strictly curse" phenomenon has often seen celebrities from past series start romantic relationships with their dance partners.

In a conversation with Closer magazine, he explained: "But with the old Strictly curse, you definitely ain't got no worries with Michelle. She's like a sister, mum and auntie all rolled into one. We've got sibling chemistry."

The star also showed his dance partner the ropes at work, proudly taking Michelle on a tour of Albert Square, showcasing the iconic sets.

Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Christmas Day
