Us spoilers follow.
Us viewers have heaped praise on the divorce drama's finale, which aired on BBC One tonight (October 11).
Adapted from David Nicholls' book of the same name, the mini-series follows dreary husband Douglas Petersen (Tom Hollander) who, during the course of a family holiday in Europe, sets out to change his wife Connie's (Saskia Reeves) mind after she says she wants to leave him.
Tonight's finale saw Douglas track down his runaway son Albie (Tom Taylor) after unwittingly pushing him away. But while there was a happy resolution to their relationship, things didn't work out with Connie.
It wasn't a totally miserable ending for Douglas, however, as he eventually ends up with a nice lady in the near future.
Viewers have been divided over the show up until now, but tonight's finale seemed to win over many of those watching at home, with some calling for awards recognition.
"I thought #US was absolutely wonderful; #TomHollander must get the Best Actor BAFTA and isn't it a joy that we can still produce such outstandingly good television?" tweeted one viewer.
Another wrote: "F**king hell, cried buckets at the end of Us. I’ve been that person desperately trying to cling onto a marriage and it's such a painful experience."
"Well, thoroughly enjoyed #Us I thought it was excellent & a terrific cast. Just what Sunday nights' viewing should be," added another.

Fucking hell, cried buckets at the end of Us. I’ve been that person desperately trying to cling onto a marriage and it’s such a painful experience. 😭 #Us— Frightening Flipps 🐳🎃 (@HollyBaleen) October 11, 2020
Well #Us was pretty wonderful. Spoke to me as the father of a teenage boy. We are luckier than we appreciate most of the time.— James Cartledge (@Jim5875) October 11, 2020
Really enjoyed #US, written with a real heart and a great message about finding positivity in adversity and working together to make life an enriching experience.— Andy Smith (@Statsmanuk) October 11, 2020
#Us on BBC1 was an unexpected treat. Poignant portrayal of a marriage breakdown beautifully acted by Tom Hollander and Saskia Reeves and damn - the reminder of the joys of travelling in Europe 😢— Seán McCárthaigh (@seanmccarthaigh) October 11, 2020
Loved that ending. Bittersweet and heartwarming. Tom Hollander can do no wrong in my eyes but seeing the trio of Douglas, Connie and Albie adapted on-screen was definitely worth waiting for. #US.— Michelle Redshaw (@Meesh_Redshaw) October 11, 2020
