Gabby Logan has given an emotional display of support to fellow TV presenter Lauren Laverne, after The One show revealed on Wednesday that she's been diagnosed with cancer.

Sunderland born star Lauren, known for hosting the BBC's Glastonbury coverage for many years, as well as fronting both 6 Music Breakfast and Desert Island Discs, took to Instagram to share her concerning news, writing: "I recently had a cancer diagnosis. It was (thank God) caught early and unexpectedly during a screening test and I am expected to make a full recovery."

She continued: "I’m in hospital at the moment and wanted to take this moment to say thank you: Firstly to the medical teams who have got me this far with incredible skill and kindness. To my family and friends who have been absolutely extraordinary every step of the way - I am so very grateful and love you so much."

It took just moments for messages of support for Lauren to flood into the comments section underneath her post, with BBC sports anchor Gabby one of the first to respond, as she wrote: "Sending you all the love and positive healing Lauren." Throughout the day more and more of Lauren's famous friends and her many followers were keen to wish her well, with Dragon's Den's Sara Davies commenting: "Sending an absolute ton of love and hugs for a speedy recovery" and another BBC star, Victoria Derbyshire replying: "So much love and strength to you Lauren."

Respected presenter Gabby was most recently on screen as one of the main hosts for the Olympics and, on her last day on screen, had to break the sad news to fans that long serving colleague Denise Lewis was quitting her job as a BBC pundit to take on the prestigious role of Presidents of UK Athletics.
