The BBC has confirmed that Paddy McGuinness will be taking up a new role. The presenter will be sitting down on the iconic yellow Cbeebies Bedtime Story chair to read The Stompysaurus by Rachel Bright and Chris Chatterton.

Paddy is currently completing a 300-mile Ultra Endurance Cycle as part of the BBC's annual telethon to raise funds for Children in Need. The Radio 2 presenter began his journey in Wrexham on Monday, November 11.

The presenter will be making his way to Glasgow on a custom-made chopper bike. Paddy has raised over £730,000 so far for Children in Need. The 51-year-old will tackle day three of his journey today. He set off from Kendal this morning on what will be the star's longest day on the road. By the end of the day he should have passed the 200 mile mark.

Paddy will be calling into Radio 2 shows with regular updates throughout each day this week as the presenters, their listeners and special guests help keep him motivated as he endures long miles on his journey to Scotland. The TV star has already passed through Merseyside earlier this week.

He was interviewed by fellow BBC presenter, Jeremy Vine, as he was on the ferry across the Mersey and reflected on the support he had received so far. He was visibly emotional as he said: "I can't think of a section where someone wasn't out. It's absolutely mind blowing."

Discussing his upcoming appearance on Cbeebies Bedtime Story, Paddy said: “What an honour to read a CBeebies Bedtime Story, it’s magical to share a story together. I hope little ones enjoy snuggling up with their grown-ups and watching it together. The book I’m reading, The Stompysaurus, is all about trying to slow down and relax when you’re feeling overwhelmed. Though for me, it’s going to be more about channelling my energy as I take on Radio 2’s huge cycling challenge for BBC Children in Need!”

Paddy McGuinness’ CBeebies Bedtime Story will air at 6.50pm on Friday 15 November. You can watch on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.
