Burger flippers at the ready, because a new TV show will see contenders battling it out to prove that they’re top of the grill.

BBQ Champ will be broadcast on ITV this summer, and will see participants attempting to create ‘mouth-watering barbecue masterpieces’ in a bid to win £25,000.

It’s been billed as ITV’s answer to The Great British Bake Off, and will be hosted by Myleene Klass.

But the would-be BBQ Champs will have to impress a tough judging panel – led by Man vs Food’s Adam Richman and restaurateur Mark Blatchford.

Speaking of the show, Klass described it as her ‘dream job’.

‘I am beyond excited to be hosting BBQ Champ’, she said.

Myleene is set to present a new show on ITV.

‘It’s no secret that I’m partial to a good burger so to be able to see culinary magic happening as well as get to sample it in situ is my absolute dream job.

Blatchford, owner of Notting Hill restaurant John Doe, said: ‘As a chef and a bloke I’ve been cooking over and in charcoal and wood for the past 15 years.

‘It is without doubt the tastiest, most versatile and yet most natural cooking method there is. ... I can't wait to get stuck in to see what the competitors can do.’

Here’s hoping the weather holds out for the whole series.
