Beachgoers Watch as Shark Struggles in Shallow Waters at Sydney Beach

Beachgoers in the seaside Sydney suburb of La Perouse, had a close encounter with a shark on April 4, after it was spotted swimming in shallow waters.

Footage by Mohit Gulati shows a crowd being told to “stay back” by authorities as they watch the shark swimming near the shore.

“Being an Easter weekend with sun shining brightly, people were enjoying their day out,” Gulati told Storyful. “Suddenly, there were some frantic calls about a shark, with people being requested to stay out of water.”

He continued, “A shark had washed up to the shore and seemed to be in a bit of trouble,” adding, “the shark seemed injured and unable to go back into deeper waters.”

Gulati said that emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, and ensured that the “magnificent creature” was left alone. Credit: Mohit Gulati via Storyful
