Bear Destroys Interior of Tahoe Man's Pickup Truck

A California man was in for a nasty Fourth of July surprise when he discovered on Independence Day that a bear had ravaged the interior of his car.

This video, recorded in Lake Tahoe by Michael William Sickle, shows the inside of his pickup truck in shambles, including a completely detached sunroof.

Sickle told Storyful it didn’t take long to figure out the culprit was a bear, “due to the apparent dirt and paw prints.”

Sickle suspects the vandal bear opened one of the doors and climbed in. Sickle said he thinks the door then slammed shut, as the truck was parked on an incline.

“He got stuck inside, freaked out, and ripped everything to shreds,” Sickle told Storyful. “He eventually made his way out of the sunroof down the hood of my truck.”

According to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, “throughout the busy summer season, the number of visitors to the area steadily increases.” Bear sightings are more common during this time due to an increase in food and trash in the area, officials said.
