Bear Snoops Inside Officer's Car Outside California Courthouse

A correction officer in Sierra County, California, got quite the surprise when she discovered who broke into her vehicle in a parking lot back in June.

This footage, released on August 1 by the Sierra County Sheriff’s Office, shows the correction officer’s car parked outside the Sierra County Courthouse in Downieville on June 6.

A bear approaches the car, opening one of the rear doors, and peers inside before leaving shortly afterwards.

The next morning, the officer was puzzled to find the door ajar. When she went to check security footage, she discovered the furry culprit, who police said found “nothing of interest.”

“Please don’t forget to lock your doors and secure or remove anything that may attract our bears,” the sheriff’s office said. Credit: Sierra County Sheriff’s Office via Storyful
