'Beat the Border': Sydney Airport Packed After New Border Restrictions Announced

Queensland closed its borders to the Greater Sydney region on December 20, giving residents a 24-hour window to return home before facing mandatory quarantine.

The move was one of many new restrictions introduced by states across Australia to prevent the interstate spread of a COVID-19 outbreak in Sydney’s Northern Beaches region, first reported on December 16, and an increase of cases in Greater Sydney.
