A Beat the Chasers contestant just trumped all five of the show's quiz experts to take home a life-changing £50,000.

The new variant of the hit ITV show sees its contestants given the choice of playing between two and five Chasers for increasing amounts of money, but the higher the sum they go for, the less time they have to answer their questions.

Taking the 'you're only here once' attitude, Kat Glennie-Soares, an accountant from Essex, elected to take on all five of the Chasers – Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, Anne Hegerty, Shaun Wallace and Mark Labbett – who were given 40 seconds on their clock.

Kat, meanwhile, had 60 seconds on her clock and was playing for a whopping £50,000. And, despite the odds being stacked against her (and thanks to a major stumble by Labbett), she managed to take home the prize money with a comfortable 20 seconds to spare.

This makes her the first contestant to beat all five Chasers on this series of the show. As for her winnings, she now plans to spend the money on her wedding and another dog.

And just to make you even more jealous of her immense fortune, Kat recently revealed in an interview with The Daily Mail that she did absolutely no quiz preparation before going on the show.

"As soon as I knew I was going on, I couldn't prep," she said. "Honestly, I was just too stressed about filling my brain with things I didn't necessarily need to know. I just thought I'd go on and see what happens.

"So, when it came to it, I just decided to relax. At home spa days and chilling… but it came around so quickly. All of a sudden it was the day!"

Now that's impressive.

Beat the Chasers continues tomorrow night (January 5) at 9pm on ITV.
