Anne "The Governess" Hegerty has been replaced on Beat The Chasers (ITV)

Beat The Chasers viewers will see Issa "The Supernerd" Schultz step in to fill the shoes of fan-favourite Anne "the Governess" Hegerty in the new series.

The Chase Australia star has taken over from Hegerty after she tested positive for coronavirus earlier this month.

The 38-year-old brain box shared an update ahead of the last day of filming on Instagram as he wrote: "I can't believe it's the final day already. I've only landed a few days ago!"

Schultz also thanked fans of the show who have reached out on social media after he was announced as Hegerty's replacement.

"Massive shoes to fill with Anne, the Governess, obviously," he added.

The new Chaser was welcomed on to the panel by fellow Chasers Mark "The Beast" Labbett, Jenny "The Vixen" Ryan, Paul "The Sinnerman" Sinha, Darragh "The Menace" Ennis, and Shaun "The Dark Destroyer" Wallace.

Wallace even took to social media to congratulate Schultz and wrote: "The Super Nerd was just super! Issa it was an absolute pleasure to work with you again. I hope that will happen sooner rather than later."

To which Issa replied: "So awesome sitting alongside you good sir! Your knowledge is sensational and you made me feel right at home. Looking forward to next time."

The Aussie Chaser will be a force to be reckoned with as he is an eight-time winner of the Australian Quizzing Championships.

Indeed, he's also landed big money prizes on other popular game shows such as Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and The Rich List.

Last week saw Hegerty announce she would no longer be filming the new season of the hit game show.

"Unfortunately I've contracted Covid-19 so won't be filming this series of #BeatTheChasers," she tweeted. "The fantastic @Issa25 (Issa Schultz) will be stepping in for me and I'm looking forward to watching the series when it's on air later this year. I feel fine, but I'm still positive! (in all respects)."
