Fans have reacted with excitement as the trailer for a new Beatles documentary has been released. Produced by legendary film director Martin Scorsese, 'Beatles '64' will be available to stream on Disney+ from November 29 and a first look at the documentary was released yesterday, November 14.

'Beatles '64' will feature never-seen-before footage of the band and the masses of fans who greeted them in North America at the height of Beatlemania. On February 7, 1964, The Beatles arrived in New York City to unprecedented excitement and hysteria.

From the instant they landed at Kennedy Airport, met by thousands of fans, Beatlemania swept New York and the entire country. Their iconic debut performance on 'The Ed Sullivan Show' was seen by more than 73m viewers and became the most watched television event of its time.

'Beatles ‘64' will show that spectacle, but will also offer a more intimate behind the scenes story, capturing the camaraderie of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr as they reached unimaginable fame. The trailer features archive footage as well as new interviews with Ringo and Paul (seemingly conducted by Scorsese) as well as other big figures from the world of music such as Smokey Robinson.

The trailer has generated plenty of excitement from fans. On YouTube, one user said: "It still blows my mind how much changed during the 60s. Seeing The Beatles footage from 1964 comparing the Get Back footage from 1969, it feels like 50 years apart, but really only five years."

Another said: "I see any video of The Beatles and I get choked up, I love them so much." A fellow YouTube user said: "I wasn't so sure about this documentary at first, but seeing how they got interviews with Ringo and Paul, as well as a bunch of other famous musicians from the time, now I'm excited."

Another said: "Wow this looks fantastic! I’m a huge huge Beatles fan and love all these documentaries and restorations that Disney have been putting out since get back etc."

On Facebook, Eric Matutina said: "When the Anthology series was released in '95, I thought this is it, this is all what the Beatles was all about. They've emptied out the vaults at the EMI/ Abbey Road Studio. But we were dead wrong.

"It's been almost 30 years since 1995 and we're still unearthing photos and footage of their early years. They are destined to live forever."

Disney+ has previously released the three-part Beatles documentary 'Get Back', which covered the recording of the band's final album - 'Let It Be'. The streaming platform also released a restored version of the 1970 'Let It Be' documentary earlier this year.
