Beaulieu Park Station: Brand new drone footage shows off impressive construction work at Essex's newest railway station
Brand new drone footage has shown off the impressive rate of construction ongoing at the site of Essex's newest railway station. Construction workers having been working tirelessly to build the Beaulieu Park Station in Chelmsford near to the A12 and Boreham interchange.
Work on the station, which has a planned completion date of the end of 2025, has been ongoing for many months. It's been a scheme many years in the making though with some people expecting the station when they arrived in the early 2000s.
The new railway station is based in the north of the city close to the Beaulieu development and Channels Estate. It's coming at a cost of around £160m but is part of a wider £252m project.

The Government, the South-East Local Enterprise Partnership and local developers are funding the development. It is also part of a larger development project in Beaulieu that also includes up to 14,000 homes. Trains to the likes of London Liverpool Street, Ipswich and Norwich will all pass through the station. There will also be parking for 700 cars, a bus interchange and 500 spaces for cycle parking and storage.
An overlapping line will allow faster trains to pass through unimpeded. It should allow for a more resilient service with fewer delays to train services. It's hoped the new station will ease demand for people using the central Chelmsford station as well as supporting the large numbers of people moving to the Essex city.
Since the 2018/19 financial year more than 3,870 homes were completed in Chelmsford. It's the eleventh highest in the East of England and Essex's second-fastest growing area according to Government figures. Chelmsford, once dubbed 'the dullest and most stupid spot on earth' by Charles Dickens, was given city status in 2012 as part of Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
