This stunning country is increasingly becoming a favourite among Brits seeking a year-round hot holiday destination. Spain has always been a top choice for those looking to escape the unpredictable British weather.

However, more and more people are now venturing further afield to Cape Verde in Africa.

Just a six-hour direct flight from the UK, the 10 islands that makeup Cape Verde offer year-round sunshine, with temperatures rarely dipping below 21C. This makes it an ideal spot for holidaymakers in search of some winter sun.

Each of the 10 islands, located in the Atlantic, boasts a unique and distinct character. There's a plethora of beaches, featuring white sand and turquoise waters, to choose from.

Some of our top picks include Santa Maria Beach and Ponta Preta on Sal, Praia de Chaves on Boa Vista, and Laginha beach in Mindelo, on Sao Vicente, reports the Express.

There are also fantastic opportunities for wildlife spotting off the beach, with whales, dolphins, and turtles often making appearances in the crystal-clear waters. Cape Verde is a great place to visit all year round, although the rainy season typically falls between July and October.

In November, the average daily maximum temperature is 29C, while the average daily minimum is 23C. The islands are also teeming with walking trails due to their magnificent mountains and towering volcanoes.
