'Beautiful little nook' Birmingham bar that we love named among best in the world
A little Birmingham bar hidden away above a restaurant in the Jewellery Quarter has been named among the best in the world. Lucky7 on Frederick Street in the neighbourhood, has been added to The Pinnacle Guide, which 'celebrates excellence in bars worldwide'.
Lucky7 is a cocktail bar that is heavily influenced by flavours of East Asia. Owners Kyndra Vorster and Robert Wood use local produce as well as high quality international ingredients to make drinks you're unlikely to find anywhere else in Birmingham.
In the latest round of 'Pin' recognition, Lucky7 was added to the Guide, with an anonymous judge naming it 'excellent'. The reviewer wrote: "This is a bar that makes you talk about it. It is an experience.

Couch, a cocktail bar in the trendy neighbourhood of Stirchley, is the other Birmingham bar to be included in The Pinnacle Guide. It joined some of the world's best cocktail bars when it was added earlier this year.
The Pinnacle Guide called Lucky7 'warm and inviting' adding that it has a 'cosy atmosphere' that provides an 'escape from the everyday'. It explains: "The bar itself serves as a dispense station rather than a traditional seating area, meaning guests to Lucky7 are all seated at the tables. Additionally, windows and any natural light is blacked-out to ensure the mood is always intimate."
Sake and beer is on the menu at Lucky7 as well as cocktails. The Guide says: "The East Meets West section features innovative cocktails that infuse traditional Western styles with Asian flavour. In Old & New, preserved ingredients from the past meet fresh, seasonal produce, while the classics section honours beloved recipes while introducing subtle Asian influences.
"Throughout the menu guests can experience ingredients like yuzu, sudachi, natsudaidai, shikuwasa, kabosu and calamansi – which are preserved using old fashioned techniques to maximise the life span of these exotic and hard-to-source ingredients. All ingredients are weighed to 0.1g with times marked to the minute and temperatures to within a single degree Celsius."
