Beautiful timelapse footage captured the first lunar eclipse of the year moving across the sky above San Francisco on Sunday, May 15.
Photographer Shreenivasan Manievannan captured the rare lunar event.
The May 15 lunar eclipse has been called a super flower blood moon, since May’s full moon is referred to as the flower moon, while a total eclipse is sometimes known as a blood moon due to its reddish color. To complete the celestial triple whammy, and explain the mouthful of a name, the eclipse came as the moon was closest to Earth, making it a “super moon." Credit: Shreenivasan Manievannan via Storyful
