Becky Watts Murder: Accused Appear In Court

Six people have appeared in court in connection with the murder of 16-year-old Becky Watts.

Becky's stepbrother Nathan Matthews, 28, and his girlfriend Shauna Hoare, 21, were among those to appear before Judge Neil Ford QC for a pre-trial hearing at Bristol Crown court.

The pair are accused of killing the Bristol teen in February this year.

They have also been charged with perverting the course of justice, conspiracy to commit false imprisonment, preventing Becky's lawful burial and possessing a prohibited weapon.

Karl Demetrius, 29, Donovan Demetrius, 29, Jaydene Parsons, 23, and James Ireland, 23, have been charged with assisting an offender.

Becky Watts was found dead in the Barton Hill area of Bristol on 2 March, 11 days after she went missing from her home, sparking a major police search operation.

The murdered teen's family and friends were present in court for the hearing.

Many were wearing badges with Becky's picture on.

Her cousin Dale Martin Galsworthy later wrote on Facebook: "That was ten times more harder than I ever could of imagined."

A trial date has been set for 6 October, with proceedings expected to last for up to five weeks, the court heard.

Becky's stepbrother and his girlfriend were remanded in custody alongside Karl Demetrius and James Ireland.

Donovan Demetrius and Jaydene Parsons were released on conditional bail.
