Work Begins to Restore Normality in Wake of Typhoon Krathon

The mayor of Kaohsiung, the Taiwanese city that took the brunt of Typhoon Krathon, said on October 4 that work was underway to restore transportation, water and electricity in the wake of the damaging storm.

Footage from by X user @YuesFan shows uprooted trees and structural damage in the city.

City mayor Chen Chi-mai said authorities were aiming to clear streets and restore services over the next three days.

National media reported two deaths arising from the storm, and over 660 injuries. There were over 7,000 damage reports, and some 387,000 households without power, Taiwan News said. Credit: @YuesFan via Storyful
