Protesters gathered outside the Ministry of Health in Minsk, Belarus, on August 17, confronting and surrounding Health Minister Vladimir Karanik as he addressed the crowd.
The protesters, including a number of doctors, wanted to voice their opposition to violence used against demonstrators during protests following the re-election of long-standing president Alexander Lukashenko, reports said.
This clip from Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty shows people pushing Karanik and pulling at his clothes. They also stood in front of his car as it attempted to leave the area.
According to Reformation, protesters shouted “shame” and “resign” at Karanik.
Karanik told the crowd that there were 158 protesters in hospital, three of them seriously injured, and reported two deaths. Credit: Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty via Storyful
