A Gala Dinner is set to take place in Belfast for the business community to raise money for a cancer charity.

The Business Beats Cancer Belfast Board's Gala Dinner aims to raise money on behalf of Cancer Research UK and will take place on March 22, 2025, at Titanic Belfast at 6.30pm.

A statement said: "This is your chance to make a meaningful impact while enjoying a night filled with networking, luxury, entertainment, and surprises!

"More than 28 people are diagnosed in Northern Ireland with cancer every single day - that's over 10,300 per year. And while survival rates here have increased over the last 50 years, NI still ranks below other European countries in this regard.

"The funds raised during this special event will go directly towards funding cancer research projects right here in Northern Ireland. With your generosity, we can continue in our mission to see 3 in 4 cancer patients surviving by 2034. Every pound raised brings us closer to a day where all cancers are cured."

The evening will include dinner and "will be a celebration of community, compassion, and change". It will feature a prosecco drinks reception set in the Titanic atrium, food and drinks, live music and entertainment, VIP guest appearances, raffles and auctions, a live DJ set from Q Radio presenter Connor Brennan, a special performance from event host; comedian and Q Radio host, Andrew Ryan and more.

A statement added: "All money raised by Business Beats Cancer Belfast is restricted to Northern Ireland so directly benefits research and support services in Northern Ireland. Locally, the Charity is funding six unique trials at the Patrick G Johnston Centre for Cancer Research in Belfast, focusing on breast cancer, bowel cancer, oesophageal cancer, and lung cancer. These trials are pioneering the next wave of treatments and early detection methods. We also co-fund the Adult Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre, which fasttracks laboratory discoveries into clinical treatments.

"Additionally, we support the Northern Ireland Biobank, which collects samples from cancer patients to drive research. In Belfast, our funding established the Molecular Pathology Laboratory, which combines diagnostics and research, allowing us to improve treatment outcomes. A key breakthrough has been the discovery of a molecule that could transform chemotherapy responses in bowel cancer patients. However, despite these achievements, the need for continued support remains urgent. In Northern Ireland alone, more than 10,300 people are diagnosed with cancer each year—that’s more than 28 people every single day.

"While our research has doubled survival rates over the past 40 years, with 56% of patients surviving for five years or more, we know there is still much work to be done. We face significant challenges. Scientific inflation is currently running at over 20%, and researchers are struggling to compete for funding. Additionally, workforce shortages and infrastructure issues in Northern Ireland’s Health and Social Care Trusts are impacting clinical research opportunities. This means we have to turn away promising research that could save lives."

A previous event from Business Beats Cancer Belfast was a quiz at Haymarket which raised £15,168 before expenses, with another set to take place in October 2025.
