A popular South Belfast restaurant has announced its closure as it prepares to open a new spot near Queen's University.

Millar's Restaurant in Finaghy is set to close its doors on the Upper Lisburn Road next month, revealing plans to open a new location in the city on social media.

Opened during the pandemic, Millar's expanded the business last year with the opening of Millar's Grill and Seafood in the heart of the city centre.

Thanking customers and the community for their support over the last number of years, Millar's has confirmed they will close in November and will open Millar's Brassiere on University Road.

The new spot will take over the former site of A Peculiar Tea which closed to customers earlier this year.

A post on Millar's Instagram reads: "It is with deep sadness that we share the news: Millar’s Restaurant in Finaghy will be closing its doors next month.

"This place has become so much more than a restaurant; it has been a warm and welcoming home for celebrations, shared meals, and lasting connections with all of you who have become our friends.

"Leaving behind this beloved spot is no easy choice, but sometimes we must let go of what we love to grow in new ways and continue to serve our community."

They continued: "In late November 2024, we’re excited to open Millar’s Brasserie at 44 University Road, right beside Queen’s University.

"Our new home will give us the opportunity to expand, offering lunch and dinner six days a week in the heart of South Belfast.

"This move allows us to support our incredible team with flexible hours and opens the door for us to grow, creating a Millar’s experience that’s both familiar and full of new possibilities.

"To each and every one of you who made our Finaghy location so special, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your support, laughter, and the memories we’ve shared mean the world to us.

"We hope you’ll join us at Millar’s Brasserie, where we can continue this journey together and create even more unforgettable moments. Stay tuned for more updates—we can’t wait to welcome you soon!"
