The owner of a popular Belfast restaurant, first established almost 20 years ago, has hailed his team as they reached the number one spot on Trip Advisor.

Yum Restaurant, on the Andersonstown Road, first opened in 2006 in Stranmillis, and just last year, on May 17, Tommy and his wife Paula, opened up in the heart of West Belfast. And they haven't looked back.

Speaking to Belfast Live about their delight at reaching the top place on Trip Advisor this week, Tommy said that it is down to their team.

"We opened here on the road on May 17 2023 and things have been going really well since then," Tommy added.

"Yum has actually been operating for almost 20 years, not just the last year. We were in Stranmillis for a long time, and our staff have mostly been with us from day one.

"What we are seeing now, is a lot of tourists coming from the town, for a meal. The reviews are great, and people are telling us that they are happy to travel, because it is always worth it.

"We do our own unique cocktails, and a good menu, because we want our customers to have a really good experience at Yum, and we are delighted to be ranked number one on Trip Advisor. It just goes well that it has happened this week, as we celebrate our first birthday in Andersonstown."

Tommy said he and his team take feedback from customers seriously, and due to demand, they will soon be launching a breakfast menu, and a new cocktail menu.

He says he wants families and friends to feel like they don't have to travel into city centres, and pay hefty prices, for a good meal and experience.

He added: "We are also looking at opening up for breakfast too, because of demand. We don't want people to miss out, so that should be being announced in the next few weeks.

"To take the number one spot, it is a brilliant feeling for me and the team. The staff have been with me for a very long time and they take pride in everything they do. This has given us a great buzz.

"We are loving where we are in Andersonstown, the road is great and the support has been unbelievable, locally, and from outside of Belfast. We have customers from miles outside of Belfast, and that is testament to the staff, the chefs and waitresses. They know what they are doing, they take pride in their work, and we are lucky to have them."
