A Michelin-star restaurant has taken the top spot for Northern Ireland at the National Restaurant Awards 2024.

The Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards is an annual countdown of the top 100 restaurants in the UK as voted for by the UK’s leading chefs, restaurateurs and food writers.

BigHospitality is the UK’s leading online publication for restaurateurs and chefs and publishes National list - they are solely responsible for organising the awards, collating the votes and producing the final results.

The Muddlers Club Belfast was named 'Best in Northern Ireland' at the 2024 awards, coming in at number 81 on the top 100 list.

The only restaurant in the country to feature, it took the top spot from fellow Michelin-star rated restaurant OX Belfast which held the title for the last two years.

The Muddlers Club burst onto the NI food scene in 2015, headed by chef Gareth McCaughey who was focused on delivering top-quality local produce in a relaxed atmosphere.

Their website reads: "With a menu based on meticulously prepared but simple dishes, a focused wine list and extensive, innovative cocktail list this restaurant writes its own rules.

"Gareth and his team hand pick the best of home grown produce daily to ensure the quality of each dish served.

"The open kitchen provides a sense of theatre and allows the diner to watch as ingredients are transformed into meticulously simple dishes in front of them."
