Belfast stylist named 'NI Hairdresser of the Year' at 2024 Awards

A Belfast stylist has been named 'NI Hairdresser of the Year 2024'.

Danny Malone of MACC Hair returned home celebrating after being awarded the title at HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards 2024, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional.

A statement said: "Danny’s win is more impressive given he has had a back-to-back win after scooping the iconic British Hairdressing Award trophy in 2023, too. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the prestigious event, which recognises the most exciting creative talents in UK hairdressing."

The event was held at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House on Park Lane, London, on Monday, November 25, hosted by Rylan Clark with entertainment by Pixie Lott, and over 1,400 guests walked the red carpet to celebrate.

Danny beat competition from three other finalists to win the Northern Ireland title "having wowed a 100-plus-strong judging panel with a photographic collection showcasing the breadth of his hairdressing expertise", a spokesperson said.

They added: "Images are judged anonymously over two stages and must adhere to strict guidelines to ensure authenticity."

Speaking shortly after his win, Danny said: “This is my second year of being up here, and I can’t thank you all enough. A huge cheer for Jayne and her amazing team at Hairdresser’s Journal—thank you so much to Revlon as well. I’m dedicating this award to my gorgeous model Missy, who sadly passed away recently—this one’s for you."

“The prestige of securing this title cannot be overstated. To win it two years running is quite exceptional, so Danny deserves to be celebrated,” said Jayne Lewis-Orr, Executive Director of HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards.

“Four decades since inception, HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards remain the most sought-after industry accolade. Previous winners have described the achievement as the pinnacle of their career.
