Beloved family dog dies in fall from cliff in Cornwall
A much-loved family dog has died after falling from a cliff in Cornwall over the weekend. A warning has been issued from HM Coastguard following the dog's death and people are being advised to keep dogs on leads while walking the cliff paths.
Padstow Coastguard were called to Longcarrow Cove around 9.10am on Sunday, October 27. A dog fell over the cliff edge while on a walk near Trevone.
The dog's owner, who had done the particular cliff walk multiple times, was walking with their dog when it fell. Emergency crews were called and began the rescue attempt.

Two cliff technicians were sent to locate and rescue the dog. Sadly, the dog died from the injuries it sustained in the fall and the animal's body was recovered.
Padstow Coastguard has warned of the dangers of walking along cliff paths, even those who walk along with their dogs regularly. Dogs should be kept on leads while on the cliff regardless of how good their recall is.
In a statement, Padstow Coastguard said: "The team was tasked to a report that a dog that had gone over the cliff at Longcarrow Cove, near Trevone. Polzeath Coastguard Rescue Team were also tasked to assist.
"A person, who had done this particular walk multiple times over many years, was walking their dog when it fell off the cliff. The teams rigged a cliff set up and two cliff technicians were deployed. They sadly recovered the deceased dog.
"This is a tragic reminder to please keep your dogs on a lead on and near cliff paths. No matter how many times you have done a particular walk or how good your beloved dog’s recall is, it just takes that one time. Our condolences are with the family.
"Stay safe and, as always, if you see anyone in trouble on or near the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
