Ben Affleck might have admitted earlier this month that there was "no script" for the upcoming solo Batman movie, but it appears all of that's now changed - and The Batman definitely is happening.

In an interview with Cineplex, Batfleck opened up about the movie's progress and although it might be taking a while, Affleck's focus is all about getting it right.

(And after the recent roastings of Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman, who can really blame him?)

"We're still working on [the script], taking a little extra time and a little extra care to really get it right on paper first," he revealed. "But it's looking very good and I'm excited about it."

Ben also shared some insight into how his turn as an "older and wiser" Batman differs from Michael Keaton and Christian Bale's incarnations.

"I think the most profound difference is that I'm playing the part at an older age than those guys were when they played it, and it's about a guy who's had a long life of this experience," he said.

Hinting at the "brighter tone" of the upcoming Justice League movie, the actor also promised we'd be seeing a less broody Bruce Wayne in future films.

"[He] was pretty pissed off in Batman v Superman, but now it's not about finding revenge in Justice League, it's about protecting the Earth... the feel is different."

While the release date of The Batman is still very much a mystery, filming is said to be starting on the solo venture some time this spring.

Our next catch-up with Bats will be in the much more certain premiere of Justice League, which is set for release on November 17 later this year.
