Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez Had a 'Connection That Doesn't End'
Last week, it was revealed that Jennifer Lopez had filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, but a source speaking with People discussed the lingering effects of their connection and show she helped him “become a family man again.”
“Family is very important to both of them, and together they were family people—and the connection doesn’t end,” the insider explained. “They are very different people...She’s super public and wants to go out, and he's more of an introvert and is happy to hang out at home.”
When the couple got together again, almost twenty years after their first broken engagement, they both brought children to the new relationship. Lopez shares her twins Max and Emme, with ex-husband Marc Anthony. Affleck shares has three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner: Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel. The kids supposedly got along and were friendly during their time together.
The actor appears to have a healthy co-parenting relationship with Garner now as well. They recently brought Violet to attend her new year at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, before returning to Los Angeles. Garner currently dates businessman John Miller.
According to the divorce filing, Affleck and Lopez have been separated since April 26. They spent most of their summers on opposite coasts, with the This Is Me...Now singer spending time in New York City while Affleck was in California. He bought a new bought a new $20 million home in the state in July after moving out of their shared mansion together.
On Thursday, Us Weekly and TMZ reported that she’s requested that her last name be restored to her maiden name, Jennifer Lynn Lopez, dropping the Affleck that she added after their marriage.
“She tried really hard to make things work, and is heartbroken,” a source told People. “The kids are a top priority, as they always have been.”
